From someone who detest the whole idea of competition I guess the whole idea of winning would be rather fresh, but then again that’s not what being the best is all about? Or would you rather ask the best of what?

To get a grasp it helps a lot if you would know what its all about. At least that’s the way it is with all but life, which kind of makes me think that maybe all the hype we have about the best may be worth writing about after all.

Some would say relationships is where its at, at least as far as the traditional view of Life’s concerned. But with confusion rife about something as fundamental as love, my bet is that they were guessing too.

Since no one claims to know I’d say this for sure, as far as living the dream I know that life is better if I choose it for myself. Even better if I make it fun. And best of all if I can share it honestly with someone else, one or more.

In retrospect I’ve found that choosing happiness is best, that sharing’s better still, and best of all is doing it without the care of winning anything at all, much less care if it’s best or not.

Social altruism is a form of behavior in which an individual places the needs or benefit of another over the needs or benefit of the self. The individual must give something of himself such as money or time, in order to have fulfilled the requirements for altruism.

The article confirms that social altruism is indeed hard-wired into instinct, and humans are not the only animal to be blessed by such a need. Indeed if you look at all the evidence from a social, ecological, evolutionary, behavioural or spiritual way, social altruism make sense. And not only because it makes us feel good.

At the level of the brain, social altruism causes release of the neurohormone oxytocin. Some call it the nuturing drug, as it is released after birth and causes lactation, some call it a trendy business principle, but most people know it as the ability to share in someone else’s grief.

In Christian belief it is part of the ritual of spiritual practice, in wicca it is know as honouring the mother. It is engraved into our culture and moulded to the way we behave towards one other, and according to the scientists it looks as if it is the reason we have survived beyond all odd’s.
